A Skool payout is the money Skool sends to your bank from your members' payments, once a week, on Wednesdays. This guide covers the schedule, the wait for your first payout, bank setup, currencies, what comes out first, how members pay, VAT, and where to see each payout. Every fact was checked against Skool's help centre on 29 September 2026.

Skool pays out your available balance every Wednesday, straight to your bank, in your local currency. The first payout takes longer: funds become available 8 to 14 days after your first payment. Skool's fees come out before it pays you. US banks usually get the money in 1 to 3 business days, other countries in 3 to 5.

How often does Skool pay out?

Once a week. Skool's Payments FAQ says your available balance "is paid out every Wednesday directly to your bank account." You do not have to ask for it.

StageWhat Skool says
First payoutFunds become available 8 to 14 days after your first payment. The Payments FAQ says it "might take up to 14 days" to reach your bank.
After thatEvery 7 days, on Wednesdays.
US bank accountsUsually 1 to 3 business days for the deposit.
Banks outside the USUsually 3 to 5 business days.
Small balancesHeld until they reach the minimum, typically one unit of your local currency.

Skool's payout article says the wait is by design, and the first payout gets extra security checks. One rule is easy to miss: your own Skool plan must be active. Archived groups and groups with a payment error do not start a payout.

Why a payout is late or fails

Skool names two causes of delay: bank processing, slowed by weekends and holidays, and account verification, which you check under SETTINGS, then Payouts. A failed payout usually means a mistyped account number, the wrong account type, or a name that does not match your bank's records.

How Skool payment processing works

Members do not pay you directly. They pay Skool. Skool is the "merchant of record": it runs the checkout, charges the card and deals with sales tax, then pays out what is left to you.

So you cannot plug in a Stripe account you already have. In the US, Skool creates a new Stripe Express account that it describes as a service for sending payouts, not a regular Stripe account. Outside the US, Skool uses a newer payout system. The largest single charge Skool allows is $100,000.

How to set up your bank account for payouts

In the United States

From Skool's article on setting up payouts:

  1. Click your profile picture, then Settings, then the admin settings for your group.
  2. Click the Payouts tab, then the settings gear.
  3. Choose the country your bank account is in and click CONTINUE.
  4. Follow Stripe's sign-up. No website? Click No URL? and describe your group.
  5. Complete identity verification, which Skool says is legally required.
  6. Connect your bank account, then click ADD PRICE to set your price.

Everywhere else

Skool's newer payout setup covers every region except the US. Go to SETTINGS, then Payouts, then Add Payout method. Choose your country, confirm with the code Skool emails you, and enter your details using the exact name your bank has on record. Then complete the identity check and add a local bank account.

  • Use a local bank. Skool says it does not directly support Wise, Chime or other fintech banks.
  • One bank for everything. All your groups' payouts, and any affiliate payouts, go to the same account.
  • Check your country. Skool's payout country list, updated September 2026, has more than 150 countries, India included.
  • Changing banks starts in the Payouts tab: click the cog, then the three dots menu (Skool's steps).

What currency Skool pays you in

Members pay in US dollars, because every price on Skool is set in USD. You are paid in your local currency. Skool does not send US dollars to banks outside the US, so a UK bank account gets pounds. On the newer payout system, Skool says there are no extra fees for currency conversion.

What comes out before your payout

Your payout is what is left after these. Worked numbers for common prices are in our Skool pricing guide.

ItemHow muchWhen it applies
Transaction fee, Hobby plan10% + 30cEvery transaction
Transaction fee, Pro plan2.9% + 30c, or 3.9% + 30c above $900Every transaction
Growth Boost30% commissionOnly for members Skool brought you, on each recurring charge while they stay
Member affiliate commissionThe percentage you setOnly if you turned on member affiliates (Pro) and a member referred the buyer
RefundsThe amount you refundPaid from your available balance
DisputesThe disputed amount plus a $15 dispute feeTaken from your payout balance when a member disputes a charge

VAT is not on the list. Skool adds it on top of your price. Skool's own examples: a $9 a month membership pays out $8.40 on Pro and $7.80 on Hobby, and a $999 one pays out $959.74 on Pro. The Growth Boost cut is explained in our Skool Growth Boost guide.

How members pay

You choose the payment options when you set up pricing. Skool has five: a free group, a subscription (monthly or annual, with an optional 7-day free trial), freemium (a free plan plus a paid one), tiers (several paid plans), and a one-time payment.

Skool's help articles describe members paying by card, in US dollars. Because most Skool charges repeat, Skool suggests Visa, Mastercard or Amex, and prepaid cards are not supported. Members change their card under Settings, then Payment methods. We found no Skool help article listing PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay for members, so check your own checkout before you promise them.

Sales tax and VAT

Skool handles it. As merchant of record, Skool says it is responsible for "all sales tax collection, filing, and payments", not you.

  • EU VAT goes on top of your price. Skool's example: a $100 a month product plus 19% German VAT costs the member $119. Your earnings are not affected.
  • The rate follows the member's country. Skool's VAT FAQ gives a range of 17% to 27%. You cannot turn it off or include it in your price.
  • Skool collects no VAT in the UK. It says it is registered as a virtual training business, which is VAT-exempt there.

Income tax on your payouts is still yours. US owners may get a Form 1099-K, and Skool's income article says to report all Skool income either way. This is not tax advice.

Where to see your payouts

From Skool's article on the payout invoice:

  1. Click your profile picture, then Settings.
  2. Click the Payouts tab.
  3. Click a payout line to open its invoice.

Each payout comes with a "reverse invoice" that Skool makes for you, so you never invoice Skool. To see what one member paid, open their Membership Settings, then the Payments tab. The group owner and the billing manager can both see payout invoices.

Failed payments never reach your payout

Your payout only holds money from members whose card went through. A declined card is money that never lands in your bank. Skool handles part of this. Its guide to card declines says it retries the card, marks the member "Declined" in red, prompts them to update their billing method, and lets you retry by hand. One catch: Skool's analytics count members with a failing payment in your MRR while they are in the retry window, so your dashboard can look better than your next payout.

What Skool does not send is a note from you. Backpack is a Chrome extension plus our servers that adds it. Its Payment Recovery sends a short series of DMs in your words, from your own Skool account, when a member's card fails, and stops once they pay. It works with your computer off. It costs $9 a month for every Skool community you admin, 7 days free, and is not affiliated with Skool. Our guide to Skool failed payments shows the by-hand way too.

So every Skool payout lands on a Wednesday, in your currency, after Skool's fees, and only from payments that went through.

FAQ

When does Skool pay out?

Every Wednesday. Skool pays your available balance straight to your connected bank account once a week, with no request needed. US bank accounts usually receive the deposit in 1 to 3 business days, and banks in other countries in 3 to 5. Your own Skool plan must be active for a payout to start.

How long does the first Skool payout take?

Longer than the rest. Skool says funds become available 8 to 14 days after your first payment, and its Payments FAQ says the first payout might take up to 14 days to reach your bank because it goes through extra checks. After that, payouts come every 7 days, on Wednesdays.

Can Skool pay me in US dollars if I live outside the US?

No. Skool pays out in your local currency and says it does not support USD deposits outside the US, so a UK bank account receives pounds. Members still pay in US dollars. On Skool's newer payout system, used outside the US, Skool says there are no extra fees for currency conversion.

What payment methods can members use on Skool?

Skool's help articles describe members paying by card, in US dollars. Skool suggests Visa, Mastercard or Amex because most charges repeat, and says prepaid cards are not supported. We found no help article listing PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay for members, so check your own checkout page first.

Does Skool handle sales tax and VAT?

Yes. Skool is the merchant of record and says it handles all sales tax collection, filing and payments. It adds EU VAT on top of your price, at the member's country rate, so your earnings are not affected. It does not collect VAT in the UK. Income tax on your payouts is still yours.
