The Skool app is free on iPhone and Android, and it puts your Skool communities on your phone. On the App Store it is called Skool Communities. On Google Play it is called Skool. This guide covers what the Skool app does, where to get the real one, and which settings Skool's help centre explains for the app and which only for the web. Store details and help articles were checked on 29 September 2026.
The Skool app is free from the App Store (as Skool Communities) and Google Play (as Skool), both made by Skool. Its listing promises "All Skool's features + push notifications": the community feed, courses, the calendar and chat. Most of Skool's help articles show web steps, so a few settings are documented only for the website.
Where to get the official Skool app

|---|---|---|
| App name | Skool Communities | Skool |
| Developer | Skool.com, Inc. | SKOOLCOM INC (support: help@skool.com) |

| Last update | Version 1.1.21, 21 July 2026 | 30 July 2026 |
| Needs | iOS 13.0 or later | Not stated on the listing |
Get it from the App Store listing or the Google Play listing. Both describe it as "The official Skool app."
Check the developer before you install
Searching "skool" on the App Store also brings up other apps with Skool in the name. One is called just "Skool", made by TrackNerd GPS Private Limited. That is not the community app. The one you want is Skool Communities by Skool.com, Inc.
What the Skool app does
Both store listings use the same description. It says the app lets you "Stay connected to your communities on the go" with "All Skool's features + push notifications", and names four parts:
- Community: group discussion with posts and comments.
- Courses: video and text lessons from the Classroom.
- Calendar: the group's upcoming events.
- Chat: direct messages with anyone in your communities.
The App Store version history shows the app first came out in May 2023, added iPad support in August 2023 and dark mode in February 2024. Every update since has been listed as "Performance enhancements and bug fixes."
Skool's help centre adds one more: you can go live "natively in the app or on the browser", with no outside streaming tool (Skool Call article). New to Skool itself? Our guide to what Skool is and how it works explains the feed, Classroom and Calendar in more detail.
Joining a group from your phone
Skool's help centre has no app-only steps for joining a group. What it does say applies on any device:
- You need a profile picture and a bio. Skool says both are mandatory for an account (profile pic article).
- Some groups ask questions first. If the owner turned on membership questions, you see up to three when you click Join, and you must answer them all to submit (membership questions).
Notifications
The listing's one addition to "All Skool's features" is push notifications. To choose what Skool tells you about, its notifications article gives these steps. They are written for the web.
- Click your profile picture in the upper right corner, then Settings.
- On the left, click Notifications.
- Click CHANGE next to a group to set its notifications.
What each setting means, from the same article:
- Digest emails: a weekly summary of popular posts.
- Notification emails: a daily summary of unread likes, comments, mentions and activity.
- Admin announcements: posts that admins make in the group.
- Event reminder email: sent 24 hours before an event starts.
You can also tap the bell icon on a single post to follow its comments, and tap it again to stop. If you follow a member, you hear when they post.
Chat on the Skool app
Chat is one of the four parts the listing names. Two chat settings have help articles, both with web steps:
- Turn chat off: profile picture, Settings, then Chat on the left. Use the drop-down to turn Skool Chat on or off for each group (chat article).
- Block someone: in the chat window, click the three dots menu, then Block. You stop getting their messages, and Skool says they will not know you blocked them (block article). Skool also suggests telling the group admins.
Steps Skool gives for the app
Most of Skool's help articles show the website. A few say what is different in the app:
| What you want to do | In the app, per Skool |
|---|---|
| Cancel a paid membership | Three dots menu, Group Settings, Manage Membership (article 99) |
| Reach a group's settings to remove your card | Slide the top nav in-app (article 180) |
| Cancel your own group's Skool plan (owners) | Scroll the top settings menu sideways to reach Billing (article 36) |
| Change the language | Profile Settings, Account, Language (article 241) |
| Go live | Works in the app or the browser (article 210) |
Deleting the app does not cancel a paid membership. You still have to finish the Manage Membership steps. Our guide to cancelling a Skool subscription has the full web and app steps.
What Skool says to do on a computer
Skool's help centre does not publish a list of things the app cannot do. The one place we found it steer you to a computer is for group owners: uploading a PDF or other file to a Classroom page, where it says "This step is recommended on Desktop" (upload article).
For everything else, the practical point is simple. Nearly every help article is written for the website, with a left-hand menu in Settings. If you cannot find a setting in the app, the web steps are the ones Skool documents.
Privacy labels on each store
Both labels are written by the developer, not checked by the store. On the App Store, Skool says "Data Not Collected," and Apple notes it "has not been verified by Apple." On Google Play, the data safety section says "No data shared with third parties," that the app may collect personal info, financial info and 5 other types, that data is encrypted in transit, and that you can ask for your data to be deleted.
If the Skool app will not load
Skool has two troubleshooting articles. For a blank screen or a connection reset error, its connectivity article says to try another network (Wi-Fi or mobile data), restart your router, turn off any VPN, or switch your phone's DNS to Cloudflare. It links Cloudflare's own steps for Android and iOS.
For a 403 error, its 403 article says to test on mobile data first. If Skool works there but not on Wi-Fi, the problem is the network, and Skool Support cannot change it.
Thinking of running your own group rather than joining one? Your members can follow it in the Skool app as well as on the web. Here is how to start a Skool community, and you can try Skool free for 14 days (affiliate link).
FAQ
Is the Skool app free?
Yes. The Skool app is free on both the App Store and Google Play. The app itself costs nothing, but paid communities still charge their own membership price inside it. Group owners also pay Skool for their plan, $9 or $99 a month, whether they use the app or the website.
What is the Skool app called on iPhone?
On the Apple App Store it is called Skool Communities, and the developer is Skool.com, Inc. It needs iOS 13.0 or later and also works on iPad. Other apps named Skool exist from different developers, so check the developer name before you install, since those are not the community app.
Is there a Skool app for Android?
Yes. On Google Play it is simply called Skool, with SKOOLCOM INC as the developer and help@skool.com as the support email. On 29 September 2026 it showed 1M+ downloads and a 4.2 star rating. The description matches the iPhone app: community, courses, calendar and chat.
Can I cancel a Skool membership in the app?
Yes. In the Skool app, tap the three dots menu, then Group Settings, then Manage Membership, and finish the cancellation. Deleting the app does not cancel anything. Skool removes you at the end of your billing cycle and recommends cancelling at least 24 hours before the next charge.
How do I turn off Skool notifications?
Click your profile picture, then Settings, then Notifications, and click CHANGE next to each group. Skool's help article gives these steps on the web. You can also tap the bell icon on a post to stop following its comments, or unfollow a member to stop hearing when they post.
Why won't the Skool app load?
Try a different network first, such as mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. Skool's troubleshooting articles also suggest restarting your router, turning off any VPN, and switching your phone's DNS to Cloudflare. If a 403 error appears only on one Wi-Fi network, Skool says the network is the cause.
