To cancel a Skool subscription, open that group's settings and click Manage membership. That one screen stops the billing, on the web or in the app. Below is how to cancel a Skool subscription step by step, how to leave a free group, what happens to your access, how refunds work, and how group owners cancel their own Skool plan.
On the web, click your profile picture, then Settings. In the Communities tab, click SETTINGS next to the group, then Manage membership, and cancel. In the app, tap the three dots menu, then Group Settings, then Manage Membership. You keep access until your billing cycle ends. Cancelling does not refund you automatically.
How to cancel a paid Skool membership on the web
These steps come from Skool's own help article, How to cancel my membership to a community, last updated 13 May 2026.
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click Settings.
- Open the Communities tab and click SETTINGS next to the group you want to stop paying for.
- Click Manage membership and follow the steps to cancel.
You cancel one group at a time. If you pay for three groups, do this three times, once from each group's SETTINGS button.
If a video pops up partway through, that is the owner's cancellation video. Skool shows it on step two. Keep going to finish.
How to cancel in the Skool app
- Tap the three dots menu, then Group Settings.
- Tap Manage Membership.
- Finish the cancellation.
Deleting the app from your phone does not cancel anything. Finish the steps.
| What you want to do | On the web | In the app |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel a paid membership (member) | Profile picture > Settings > Communities > SETTINGS > Manage membership | Three dots menu > Group Settings > Manage Membership |
| Cancel your group's Skool plan (owner) | SETTINGS > Billing > Manage subscription > Cancel subscription | Same, but scroll the top settings menu sideways to reach Billing |
What happens after you cancel
- You keep access for now. Skool removes you from the group at the end of your billing cycle, not the moment you cancel.
- Cancel a day early. Skool recommends cancelling at least 24 hours before the next charge.
- Paid outside Skool? These steps only cover payments made on Skool. If you paid the owner some other way, Skool says to contact the group admins before you leave.
Remove your card
Skool's card removal article gives the order: cancel the paid membership, exit the group, then go to Payment Methods and click Remove on the card on file. To check what you have been charged, click your profile picture, then Settings, then Payment history. If a charge on your statement confuses you, see what the P.SKOOL.COM charge on your card is.
How to leave a free Skool group
Skool's help centre has no article just for leaving a free group. The closest thing it documents is in the card removal article: once a paid membership is cancelled, you get the option to exit the group from that group's settings.
A free group has no payment to cancel, so go straight to that group's SETTINGS (profile picture, Settings, Communities) and use the exit option there.
How to cancel a free trial as a member
Owners of paid groups can offer members a 7-day free trial, according to Skool's pricing setup article. A trial is a paid membership that has not charged you yet. Skool has no separate article on cancelling one, so use the paid steps above: group SETTINGS, then Manage membership.
Do it before the trial ends. Give yourself the same 24 hours Skool recommends before any charge.
Refunds: cancelling does not give your money back
Skool is clear on this. Its refund article says cancelling or leaving a group "will not automatically issue a refund." The group owner sets the refund terms, not Skool. Skool's payments FAQ adds that in most cases Skool will not refund on the owner's behalf.
To ask for a refund, message the owner:
- Open the group's Members tab.
- Filter the list by Admins.
- Click CHAT next to an admin's name and ask. You can also use the owner's company support email.
If the owner agrees, the money goes back to the card you paid with. Skool says this usually takes around 7-10 business days.
How to cancel your Skool plan as a group owner
If you created a group, you pay Skool for the group itself, and you cancel that in a different place. These steps are from Skool's article How to cancel my Skool group subscription or free trial.
- Click SETTINGS in your community.
- Open the Billing tab and click Manage subscription. In the app, scroll the top settings menu sideways to find Billing.
- Click Cancel subscription.
Can't see the Billing tab? Skool says to zoom out: Command and minus on a Mac, Ctrl and minus on Windows. The same steps cancel Skool's 14-day free trial. If you are stuck, email Skool at help@skool.com, the address on its contact page.
What happens next, from Skool's billing help article: you keep access until the end of the billing period. Then the group is archived. Its content stays readable, but nothing new can be added. Skool says everything is saved and you can reactivate later. Skool gives no refunds for full or partial billing periods.
Two things to check before you cancel:
- Is cost the reason? You can downgrade from Pro ($99 a month) to Hobby ($9 a month) under Billing, Manage subscription, Change plan. Hobby takes a 10% transaction fee instead of 2.9%, so check the sums in our Skool pricing guide.
- Do you have paying members? Skool's help centre does not say what happens to your members' own subscriptions when your group is archived. Ask Skool support before you cancel a group people pay for.
Cancelling does not delete the group. Skool notes that cancelling is usually all you need to stop the billing. If you want everything gone, see how to delete your Skool account.
For owners: your members cancel this exact way
Every member who leaves your paid group goes through the Manage membership steps above. Skool gives you one tool at that moment, on the Pro plan only: a cancellation video. Add it in your group's admin settings, under Plugins, then Cancellation video. Skool plays it on step two of the cancel flow.
After that, a member who cancels still has access until their billing cycle ends. That gap is your chance to talk to them. Backpack is a Chrome extension (not made by Skool) with Cancellation Recovery: when a member cancels, it sends the messages you wrote, and stops if they resubscribe. It runs on our servers, so it works with your computer off. It costs $9 a month for every Skool community you admin, every feature included. Try Backpack free for 7 days.
The short version
That is how to cancel a Skool subscription: one Manage membership screen per group, on the web or in the app, at least a day before the next charge. For a refund, ask the owner.
FAQ
Does cancelling a Skool membership give me a refund?
No. Cancelling a Skool membership does not refund you automatically. Refunds are up to the group owner, and Skool says in most cases it will not refund on their behalf. Ask the admins on Skool Chat or through their support email. If they agree, the money usually reaches your card in about 7-10 business days.
Do I lose access to a Skool group as soon as I cancel?
No. Skool removes you from the group at the end of your current billing cycle, so you keep your access until then. Skool recommends cancelling at least 24 hours before your next charge, so leave yourself a full day rather than cancelling at the last minute.
Can I cancel my Skool subscription in the app?
Yes. In the Skool mobile app, tap the three dots menu, then Group Settings, then Manage Membership, and finish the cancellation. It does the same job as the web steps. Deleting the app from your phone does not cancel your membership, so always finish the steps inside the group settings.
How do I cancel if I paid the group outside Skool?
Contact the group admins. Skool's cancel steps only cover memberships paid through Skool itself. If you paid the owner another way, Skool says you must contact the group admins before you leave the group. To find them, open the group's Members tab, filter by Admins, then click CHAT next to a name.
Does cancelling my Skool plan delete my group?
No. When an owner cancels, the group keeps running until the billing period ends, then Skool archives it. Archived content stays readable, but nobody can add anything new. Skool says everything is saved and you can reactivate the group later. Deleting a group is a separate step with its own rules.
