To get a Skool refund, message the admins of the group you paid, because Skool's help centre sends every refund request to them. Canceling on its own does not give your money back. Owners refund a member from the Members tab, in full or in part. This guide covers both sides, with steps from Skool's help articles, checked on 18 October 2026.
Members: message the group's admins on Skool Chat, or use the group's support email, and ask. Canceling alone does not refund you. If they agree, the money goes back to the card you paid with in about 7-10 business days. Owners: open the Members tab, click MEMBERSHIP SETTINGS, then Payments, pick the payment and click REFUND PAYMENT.
How do you ask for a refund on Skool as a member?
You ask the group's admins directly. Skool's article How to seek a refund for the most recent transaction says to reach them on Skool Chat or by the group's own support email. Here is how to do it:
- Find the charge. Click your profile picture, then Settings, then Payment history. Click the month, and the receipt opens in a new tab. It shows which group charged you.
- Find the admins. Go to that group's Members tab and filter it by Admins.
- Send a message. Click CHAT next to an admin's name (these steps are from Skool's article on contacting the group admins).
- Say what you want. Give the date and the amount, and ask for a refund.
Would you rather email? Skool's support quick start guide says a paid group's contact email is on your invoice and in the email you got when you joined.

Does canceling a Skool membership give you a refund?
No. Skool's refund article says canceling a subscription or leaving a group does not issue a refund on its own. You have to ask the admins.
Canceling still matters, because it stops the next charge. From Skool's article How to cancel my membership to a community:
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click Settings.
- On the Communities tab, click SETTINGS next to the group.
- Click Manage membership and cancel.
In the app, tap the three dots menu, then Group Settings, then Manage Membership. Skool says you leave the group at the end of your billing cycle, and it suggests canceling at least 24 hours before the next charge. Our guide on how to cancel a Skool subscription covers every way to cancel.
Skool's refund article also says that if you qualify for a refund, the admins refund you as soon as you cancel. So it often makes sense to ask first, then cancel.
How long does a Skool refund take?
Usually about 7-10 business days. Skool's refund article says the money goes back to the payment method you used to buy, and it takes around 7-10 business days to process. If you have since changed cards, see how to change your payment method on Skool for where your cards are kept.
What if you paid the group outside Skool?
Then you sort the refund out with the owner. Skool's cancel article says its steps are for subscriptions paid on Skool. If you paid the owner some other way, it says to contact the group's admins before you leave the group.
What if the group's admins do not reply?
Try the group's email next. Skool's quick start guide says the contact email for a paid group is on your invoice and in your welcome email.
If you still cannot reach anyone, you can contact Skool support. Its guide says to log in and use skool.com/support from the right Skool account, and to name the group's URL. Our guide on how to contact Skool support has every way to reach Skool and what to put in your message.
How do Skool owners refund a member's payment?
From the member's settings in the Members tab. These steps are from Skool's article How to refund a member's payment:
- Open the Members tab, or search for the member by name.
- Click MEMBERSHIP SETTINGS next to their name.
- Click the Payments tab. You will see every payment that member has made.
- Click the date of the payment you want to refund.
- Click REFUND PAYMENT.
For a partial refund, click REFUND PAYMENT the same way, and you will see the option to refund part of it. To refund someone who has already canceled, churned or been banned, Skool says to use that subtab on the Members tab.
Why can't you refund a member on Skool?
Most likely your balance is too low. Skool's refund article says you cannot refund more than your available account balance, and a partial refund needs enough balance too.
If you still need to pay the member back, Skool suggests two things: wait until new payments build your balance, or pay them back outside Skool with something like PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle or Apple Pay.
Does a refund cancel the member's subscription?
No. Skool's refund article says refunding a subscription charge does not cancel the subscription or remove the member from the group. If you want them gone, it lists three choices:
| Option | What Skool says happens |
|---|---|
| Remove from group | They leave the group now and their subscription is canceled. They can rejoin later. |
| Ban from group | They leave the group now and their subscription is canceled. They cannot rejoin. |
| Cancel subscription | Their membership ends at the end of the billing cycle, and they are removed after their billing date. |
Two more things change when you refund. If an affiliate brought the member in, Skool's article says a full refund takes the commission back from the affiliate's balance. And the refund shows in your Analytics cash flow on the day you create it, under Refunds (Skool's analytics definitions).
How can owners keep a member who asks for a refund?
Talk to them before they go. A member who asks for money back may be about to cancel. That is the moment a personal message from you counts most.
Skool has one tool for this. On the Pro plan, its cancellation video plugin shows your video to members on step two of canceling (Skool's cancellation video article). It only reaches members while they are on the cancel page.
Backpack adds a follow-up after they cancel. Its Cancellation Recovery messages a member who cancels, in your own words and spaced how you choose, and stops if they resubscribe. It sends from our servers, so it works with your computer off. Backpack costs $9 a month with 7 days free, and it is not affiliated with Skool.
So how do you get a refund on Skool?
As a member, ask the group's admins on Skool Chat or by the group's email, and cancel if you want the charges to stop. A Skool refund usually takes 7-10 business days to reach your card. As an owner, refund from the member's Payments tab, then decide whether to remove them, ban them or cancel their subscription.
