Skool has no full email marketing tool, but it can email your members. An admin can send a post to every member by email, and Skool sends members its own digest, notification and event reminder emails. What Skool does not document is the rest of what most people mean by email marketing: sequences, automations, segments and emails to people who have not joined. This guide covers what Skool email marketing can and cannot do, what members actually receive, and when you still need a separate email tool. Everything here was checked on Skool's own pages on 3 October 2026.
Skool has no full email marketing tool. Admins can send a post to all members by email, and Skool sends members a weekly digest, daily notification emails and event reminders. Skool documents no email sequences, automations, segments or marketing emails to people outside your group. For those, you still need a separate email tool.
Does Skool do email marketing?
Partly. Email marketing usually means three things: a list you can email when you choose, sequences that send on their own, and a way to email people before they buy. Skool covers part of the first. Its help centre documents nothing for the other two.
What Skool has is built around the community. Your members are the list, and a post can go to them by email. That suits a group where the posts are the product. It does not suit running a newsletter or a sales funnel from inside Skool.
Skool has two plans, Hobby at $9 a month and Pro at $99 a month, and its pricing page offers a 14-day free trial. If you want to see the email options for yourself, you can try Skool free (affiliate link) and look at them in a test group. Our Skool pricing guide covers what else each plan includes.
How do you email all members on Skool?
Through a post. Skool's member roles article has a chart of what each role can do. It lists "Email broadcast posts" as something moderators cannot do. Admins can do everything except a short list, such as changing the group owner, and broadcasts are not on it. So the owner and admins can send them.
No Skool help article covers the broadcast itself yet. Skool's in-app wording for the switch says turning it on "will also send this post to ALL members of your group via email". The same wording says admins can only send a post by email once every 72 hours, to protect email deliverability. Before it sends, Skool asks you to confirm and shows how many members the email will go to.
Two limits matter. The 72-hour gap means one broadcast every three days at most. And members are in control: Skool's notifications article shows an "Admin broadcast email" switch in each member's settings, for each group they are in. A member who turns it off will not get your broadcasts by email, though they can still read the post in the group.
Other emails you can trigger
- Event reminders. The add event form in Skool's event article has a box to remind members by email 1 day before.
- Invites. Skool's invite article lets you email an invite to one address, or upload a CSV file of addresses. Invited people get in without paying or requesting membership, once they click JOIN NOW in the email. So invites are for people you want to let in free, like past customers or your team.
What emails do Skool members get?
Skool sends members a few kinds of email for each group they belong to. This table uses the names from Skool's notifications article and its screenshots. Members can turn each one on or off for each group: click the profile picture, then Settings, then Notifications.
| What it is | When it sends | |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly digest email | A summary of popular posts | Weekly |
| Daily notifications email | A summary of unread likes, comments, mentions and activity | Daily |
| Admin broadcast email | Admin posts sent to the group by email (Skool's text calls these admin announcements) | When an admin sends one |
| Event reminder email | A reminder about an event in the group | 24 hours before the event begins |
Skool has also been cutting back on how much it emails people. In Skool News #55 (5 May 2026), Skool's team said they had made member notification settings simple on or off switches, and were sending significantly fewer email notifications while watching that engagement held up.
What can and cannot Skool do for email?
"None documented" means we searched Skool's help centre for email, broadcast, sequence, automation and newsletter on 3 October 2026 and found no article that describes it.
| What you want to do | Can Skool do it? |
|---|---|
| Send a post to all members by email | Yes, the owner and admins. Once every 72 hours, per Skool's in-app wording |
| Email members a reminder before an event | Yes, 1 day before, if you tick the box when you add the event |
| Email an invite to join your group | Yes, to one address or a CSV upload. Invited people join free |
| Collect an email address when people join | Yes, one email question in your membership questions, on Hobby and Pro |
| Send new paid members to an email tool | Yes, through Zapier, on the Pro plan only |
| Run an automated email sequence | No, none documented |
| Email only some members, such as one tier | No, none documented |
| Send marketing emails to leads who have not joined | No, none documented. Invites exist, but they let people in free |
| See opens and clicks for a broadcast | No, none documented |
Does Skool have email automation?
No. Skool's help centre documents no email sequences, autoresponders or drip emails. The nearest things Skool offers are not email:
- AutoDM (Pro plan). Skool's AutoDM article says new members get your custom message within 1 to 5 minutes of joining. It is one Skool DM, not an email, and it does not send if a conversation with that member already exists.
- Zapier (Pro plan). Zapier can pass each new paid member's name and email to another app, and that app can run your email automation. Our Skool Zapier guide covers the setup and where it stops.
How do you get member emails into an email tool?
Skool documents three routes.
- Membership questions (Hobby and Pro). You can ask up to three questions when people click Join, and one of them can use an email address answer type. Skool's plugins article suggests using a question to ask for an email or social handle, so you can reach people who stop being active on Skool. To get the answers out, Skool's membership answers article points to the Export button on the Members tab.
- Zapier (Pro only). Skool's new paid member guide sends each new paid member's first name, last name and email to a CRM. Its membership answers guide lists creating contacts in email tools as one use.
- Looking them up. Skool's roles chart shows moderators cannot see member emails. Admins can.
When do you still need a separate email tool?
Skool on its own is enough if your plan is simple: you post in the group, and now and then you want an important post to land in members' inboxes too. You need a separate email tool if you want any of these:
- Email people before they join, such as a free guide that leads to your Skool group.
- A welcome or sales sequence that sends by itself over days or weeks.
- Emails more often than once every 72 hours.
- Different emails for different members, such as one tier and not another.
- Open and click numbers. Skool documents none for broadcasts.
If you do email from your own tool, link to your Skool About page. Skool's traffic sources article says joins from email broadcasts show up as Direct in its Growth tab, along with typed-in links and URL shorteners. It also suggests sharing your About page link in your emails.
Skool's own team pushes the other way. In Skool News #63 (30 June 2026), they said the top-earning groups send traffic straight to their About page, and that funnels and email sequences in between often waste effort, though a funnel that works is worth keeping. The trade-off: a list takes time to build, but you hold it yourself, outside Skool. Our Skool review covers Skool's other trade-offs.
Can Skool send automated messages to members?
Skool documents one: AutoDM, covered above. If you already run a Skool community and want new members, late payers or leavers to hear from you automatically, those messages can go as Skool DMs instead of email. Backpack is a Chrome extension plus our servers that sends short sequences of DMs you write: Welcome Drip for new members, Payment Recovery when a card fails, and Cancellation Recovery when someone cancels. They go from your own Skool account as normal DMs, even with your computer off. Backpack does not send email. It costs $9 a month for every Skool community you admin, 7 days free, and is not affiliated with Skool.
In short, Skool email marketing stops at sending a post to your members by email, at most once every 72 hours, plus Skool's own digest, notification and reminder emails. For sequences, segments or a list of leads, pair Skool with an email tool. If that fits how you want to run your group, you can start a Skool community here (affiliate link).
FAQ
Does Skool have email marketing?
Not a full tool. Skool lets admins send a post to all members by email and sends members weekly digests, daily notification emails and event reminders. Its help centre documents no email sequences, automations, segments, or a way to send marketing emails to people who have not joined your group. For those, you need a separate email tool.
Can you email all members on Skool?
Yes, if you are the owner or an admin. Skool can send a post to all members of your group by email, and its roles chart shows moderators cannot. Members who switch off admin broadcast emails in their notification settings will not get it in their inbox, but they can still read the post in the group.
How often can you send an email on Skool?
Once every 72 hours. Skool's in-app wording says admins can only send a post by email once every 72 hours, to protect email deliverability, and shows how long until you can send again. No Skool help article covers this limit yet, so check the wording in your own group before you plan around it.
Does Skool have email automation?
No. Skool's help centre documents no email sequences, autoresponders or drip emails. The nearest automated message is AutoDM, a Pro plan feature that sends new members one custom Skool DM within 1 to 5 minutes of joining. For automated email, Pro owners can pass new paid members to an email tool through Zapier.
Can you export member emails from Skool?
Partly. Skool's help centre points to an Export button on the Members tab that exports membership question answers, so ask for an email in one of your questions. On the Pro plan, Zapier can also send each new paid member's name and email to another app. Skool's roles chart shows admins can see member emails.
