The Skool Zapier integration links your Skool group to other apps, but it only has four building blocks: two triggers and two actions. That is enough to get buyers into Skool and member details out of it. It is not enough to automate everything inside your group. This guide covers which Skool plan you need, exactly what Zapier lists for Skool today, how to connect the two, common uses, and where it stops. Everything was checked on Skool's and Zapier's own pages on 29 September 2026.

Skool's Zapier integration needs the $99 a month Pro plan. Zapier lists two Skool triggers, New Paid Member and Answered Membership Questions, and two actions, Invite Member and Unlock Course for Member. There are no search actions, and no trigger for cancellations or failed payments. You connect it with the API key from Skool's Zapier plugin.

Which Skool plan you need

The Pro plan, at $99 a month. Skool's plugins article marks the Zapier integration "(Pro plan)", and its Zapier article says it is not on the Hobby plan. Zapier's own Skool setup guide lists the same limit, plus two more things you need: admin rights in the group, and your group's API key and group URL. Our Skool pricing guide covers what else Pro gets you.

You also need a Zapier account. Zapier's pricing page shows a free plan with 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps, which is one trigger and one action. Paid plans start from $19.99 a month and add multi-step Zaps, Premium apps and webhooks.

What the Skool Zapier integration can do

This is the full list on Zapier's Skool app page and in its setup guide.

TypeNameWhat it does, per Zapier
TriggerNew Paid MemberFires when a new member completes payment and joins the group.
TriggerAnswered Membership QuestionsFires when a potential member submits answers to your membership questions.
ActionInvite MemberInvites a person to your group. Needs an email address.
ActionUnlock Course for MemberUnlocks a course for a member of your group. Needs an email address.

Zapier's guide also says: "No search actions are available for this app." In Zapier, a search is a step that finds an existing record, so no Zap step can look up a Skool member for you.

Skool's own guides show what each trigger sends. New Paid Member passes a transaction ID, the date, the member's first and last name and their email. Answered Membership Questions passes the date, the person's name, a transaction ID and up to three questions with their answers.

How to connect Skool to Zapier

First, Skool's side, from its Zapier article:

  1. In your group settings, open Plugins and click edit next to the Zapier plugin.
  2. Turn Zapier on and copy your API key.
  3. Copy the back half of your group URL. For skool.com/your-group, that is "your-group".

Then Zapier's side, from its setup guide:

  1. In Zapier, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection.
  2. Search for and select Skool, then click Add connection.
  3. Enter your Skool group API key and group URL, then click Yes, Continue to Skool.

You can also connect while building a Zap: pick Skool as the trigger or action app, then choose "connect new account" when Zapier asks. One warning from Skool: if you refresh your API key, all your existing Zaps break until you rebuild them with the new key.

Common uses

Skool's help centre has a step-by-step guide for each trigger and action, all built with HubSpot as the other app. Zapier's templates and its 5 ways to automate Skool post (August 2024) show the same jobs with other tools:

  • Sell outside Skool, then invite buyers in. Zapier templates invite people to Skool after a new Stripe subscription, a ClickFunnels order, a Digistore24 order or a Stan purchase.
  • Send new paid members to your email tool or CRM. A template tags Kit subscribers when paid members join. Skool's guide does the same with HubSpot contacts.
  • Keep membership answers. Templates add them to Google Sheets rows or Airtable records, so you can see who is joining and why.
  • Unlock a course after a purchase. Templates unlock a Skool course after a new Stripe charge or a Jotform submission. Skool suggests invites with course access for courses you sell on their own.

Zapier also offers the two Skool actions through Zapier MCP, so an AI like Claude or ChatGPT can invite a member or unlock a course. Our guide to connecting Claude or ChatGPT to Skool compares that with other options.

Skool's webhook plugin

Skool Pro also has a Webhook plugin. Skool calls it "a developer-only feature", used to send a unique invite link to people who check out through an outside payment processor. If you have a developer, it is another way to get buyers in. It is not the same thing as Webhooks by Zapier, which Zapier marks as a Premium app.

Where the Skool Zapier integration stops

  • Pro only. On the Hobby plan there is no Zapier plugin.
  • Four building blocks, nothing more. Zapier lists no Skool trigger for a cancelled member, a failed payment, or a new post or comment. It lists no action to send a DM, remove a member or create a post.
  • Not instant. Both triggers are "polling": Zapier checks Skool for new data on a timer, every 15 minutes on its free plan and every 2 minutes on Professional. Skool's guides say invites and course unlocks usually take 10 to 15 minutes on a standard Zapier account.
  • Private courses only. Unlock Course for Member only shows private courses, because public ones are already open to every member.
  • One course email at a time. Skool says only one course access email per member is valid at a time. A newer one replaces any unused older one, so bundle courses where you can.
  • Testing needs real data. To test New Paid Member, someone (or a test account) must have paid recently. To test the membership trigger, someone must have answered your questions and be waiting for approval.
  • A new API key breaks old Zaps. Rebuild them after any refresh.

Following up with members: Zapier or Backpack

Many owners set up Zapier to follow up with members. New Paid Member can pass each buyer to your email tool or CRM, and your welcome email goes out from there. But the triggers Zapier lists for Skool stop at new paid members and membership answers. It lists no trigger for a failed card or a cancellation, and no action that sends a Skool DM.

Backpack covers those moments inside Skool. It is a Chrome extension plus our servers. Payment Recovery messages a member when their card fails, Cancellation Recovery messages a member who cancels, and Welcome Drip sends your welcome messages to new members. You write every message, and it sends them as DMs from your own Skool account, even with your computer off. It costs $9 a month for every Skool community you admin, 7 days free, and is not affiliated with Skool. It does a different job from Zapier's CRM hand-off, so you can keep both. More on the card side in our guide to Skool failed payments.

In short, the Skool Zapier integration is a solid bridge for getting buyers in and member details out, on the Pro plan, with a delay of a few minutes. For anything past its four building blocks, you need another tool.

FAQ

Does Skool integrate with Zapier?

Yes, on the Pro plan only. Skool's Zapier plugin gives you an API key that connects your group to Zapier. Zapier then lists two Skool triggers, New Paid Member and Answered Membership Questions, and two actions, Invite Member and Unlock Course for Member. The Hobby plan has no Zapier plugin.

Is the Skool Zapier integration free?

Not fully. The Zapier plugin needs Skool Pro, at $99 a month. On Zapier's side, the free plan includes 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps, which covers a simple trigger and one action. Paid Zapier plans start from $19.99 a month for multi-step Zaps, Premium apps and webhooks.

Can Zapier send a DM on Skool?

No. Zapier's Skool app lists only two actions: Invite Member and Unlock Course for Member. There is no action that sends a direct message, removes a member or creates a post. To message members on Skool itself, you send DMs by hand, use Skool's AutoDM plugin for new members, or use a separate tool.

Where do I find my Skool API key for Zapier?

In your group settings. Open Plugins, click edit next to the Zapier plugin, and turn it on. You will see your API key and a button to refresh it. Zapier also asks for your group URL, which is the part after skool.com/. Refreshing the key breaks existing Zaps until you rebuild them.

Can Zapier add people to Skool after they pay on Stripe?

Yes. Zapier has templates that invite people to your Skool group after a new Stripe subscription, and that unlock a Skool course after a new Stripe charge. Both use Skool's Invite Member or Unlock Course for Member action, so they need Skool Pro. The person joins by clicking the invite email Skool sends.
