You add a Meta (Facebook) pixel to Skool with a built-in plugin called Meta pixel tracking. The Skool Meta pixel plugin takes two things from Meta, your pixel ID and an access token, and then sends Meta three events from your group. Below: the steps on both sides, the plan question, Google Ads tracking, and the limits. All checked on Skool's and Meta's own pages on 3 October 2026.
To add a Meta pixel to Skool, open your group's Settings, go to Plugins, turn on Meta pixel tracking and click Connect Meta pixel. Paste your pixel ID and an access token from Meta Events Manager. Skool then tracks About page views, membership requests and purchases. Google Ads tracking is a separate plugin on the $99 Pro plan.
Which Skool plan do you need for the Meta pixel?
Skool's help centre does not say. Its Meta pixel article (updated 29 May 2026) names no plan, and its plugins guide (updated 29 August 2026) leaves the Meta pixel off its list. To see whether you have it, open Settings, then Plugins, in your group.
Google Ads tracking is clearer. The plugins guide marks it "(Pro plan)", and Pro costs $99 a month on Skool's pricing page. Our Skool pricing guide covers what else Pro adds.
How do you add a Meta pixel to Skool?
You need to be a group admin, Skool's setup video says. Get two values from Meta, then paste them into Skool.
In Meta: get your pixel ID and an access token
- Create a pixel if you have none. Meta's pixel setup page says: go to Meta Events Manager, click Connect data and select Web, then click Connect. Enter a name for your pixel and click Create pixel. Meta says this "creates a new ID, viewable in Events Manager."
- Find the pixel ID. Meta's Events Manager guide says to select your dataset on the Data Sources page. Its Settings tab lets you view "the ID and owner of your data." Skool's video calls this dataset ID your pixel ID.
- Generate an access token. Meta's developer guide says: choose your pixel in Events Manager, select the Settings tab, find the Conversions API section and click Generate access token under Set up manually, then follow the pop-up. Meta notes the link only shows for people with developer privileges for the business.
Meta also offers ways to add code to your website. Skool's video says to ignore Meta's other setup steps: Skool needs only the ID and the token.
In Skool: connect the plugin
These steps come from the setup video on Skool's Meta pixel article:
- In your group, click Settings, then Plugins, then Meta pixel tracking.
- Click Edit, turn the plugin on, and click Connect Meta pixel.
- Paste your pixel ID and access token, then click Connect. The plugin should now show as connected.
That video dates from April 2024, and Meta's help pages now describe a different route to create a pixel, so follow Meta's pages for the Meta half.
Which events does Skool send to Meta?
Skool's article says you can track "page views, membership requests, and purchases", and retarget people who visit your group's About page. The event names below come from Skool's setup video.
| What happens | Event name (Skool's video) | What Skool says it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Someone visits your About page | Page view | Building a retargeting audience of About page visitors |
| Someone requests to join your group | Complete registration | A conversion event for ads that get free members |
| Someone joins as a paid member | Purchase | A conversion event for ads that get paid members |
How do you test the Skool Meta pixel?
Skool's article gives these steps to test whether the events fire correctly:
- In Events Manager, go to the dashboard and make sure Track events automatically without code is off. Then click Open event setup tool.
- In the pop-up, paste your group's URL and click Add events.
- This opens your About page with a setup window. If that window lists any events, delete them all.
- After saving, check your page with the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension.
Skool's video shows a quicker check too: open Test events in Events Manager, then load your About page in another tab. A page view should appear, with activity from skool.com.
If nothing shows up, Skool's troubleshooting list starts with adding skool.com to your allow list for traffic permissions. The screenshot in Skool's article shows this in your pixel's Settings, under "Traffic permissions - websites". It also suggests checking Pixel Health in Events Manager and turning off ad blockers and other browser plugins while you test.
How do you add Google Ads tracking to Skool?
Google Ads tracking is a Pro plugin. Skool's Google Ads article says it tracks page views and signups. The steps, from that article and its video:
- In your group, click Settings, then Plugins, then Google Ads tracking. Turn it on and click Connect Google Tag.
- Find your Google Tag ID: Google Ads > Tools > Data Manager > Manage > Configuration. In Skool's screenshot, the ID starts with AW-.
- Find your conversion label: Google Ads > Goals > Create conversion > Sign Up Conversion > Use Google Tag Manager > Conversion labels. In the video, Skool picks the Sign-up category and no money value.
- Paste the Tag ID and the label into Skool and click Connect.
Skool's video says Skool then sends Google a page view when someone views your About page, and the sign-up conversion when someone joins as a new member, free or paid. If the data looks wrong, Skool suggests the Google Tag Assistant Chrome extension and turning on auto-tagging.
What can Skool's pixel tracking not see?
- Anything past the listed events. Skool lists three events for Meta and two for Google. Neither article mentions cancellations, failed payments, course progress or posts.
- Pages other than your About page. Skool's video describes the page view as a visit to your About page, for retargeting.
- Your own extra trackers. Skool asks you not to add trackers such as Google Tag Manager "within your datasets", as they may interfere with its tracking. Use one pixel ID only for your Skool group: Skool says reusing it across domains or in outside CRMs can cause duplicate or misattributed purchases.
- Hyros, unless you are a legacy admin. Skool's Hyros article now says that plugin "is currently available only to the legacy admins."
Skool's own Growth tab gives a second view. Its traffic sources article says link-in-bio tools, redirects and URL shorteners "strip traffic sources and show up as direct", so Skool suggests linking to your About page directly. Our Skool analytics guide explains that report, and our guide to getting more members on Skool shows where ads fit.
Ads bring members in. Who follows up when they leave?
The pixel sees people arrive. It does not see a card fail or a member cancel. Skool covers part of this: a member whose card fails gets a red "Declined" label, and you can open the invoice to see why, how many retries Skool has made, and retry the charge yourself. Pro also has a cancellation video plugin.
Backpack adds the personal follow-up. It is a Chrome extension plus our servers. Payment Recovery messages a member when their card fails, Cancellation Recovery messages a member who cancels, and Welcome Drip sends welcome messages to the new members your ads bring in. You write every message, and Backpack sends them, even with your computer off. It costs $9 a month for every Skool community you admin, with 7 days free, and it is not affiliated with Skool. More in our guide to Skool failed payments.
In short, the Skool Meta pixel needs a pixel ID and an access token from Meta, a few clicks under Settings, then Plugins, and a test on your About page before you spend on ads.
FAQ
Can you add a Facebook pixel to Skool?
Yes. Skool has a Meta pixel tracking plugin under Settings, then Plugins. You connect it with your Meta pixel ID and an access token from Meta Events Manager. Skool then tracks page views on your About page, membership requests and purchases, so you can retarget visitors and measure ads for free or paid members.
Is the Skool Meta pixel on the Hobby plan?
Skool's help centre does not say. The Meta pixel article names no plan, and the plugins guide, updated 29 August 2026, does not list the Meta pixel at all. Google Ads tracking is marked Pro, at $99 a month. Check Settings, then Plugins, in your own group to see what is there for you.
What events does the Skool Meta pixel send?
Three. Skool's article lists page views, membership requests and purchases. Its setup video names them Page view, for visits to your About page, Complete registration, when someone requests to join, and Purchase, when someone joins as a paid member. Skool suggests the last two as conversion events for free and paid member ads.
Where do I find my Meta pixel ID?
In Meta Events Manager. Select your dataset on the Data Sources page and open its Settings tab, which Meta says shows the ID and owner of your data. Skool's setup video calls this dataset ID your pixel ID. You paste it into Skool's Meta pixel plugin along with an access token.
Why is my Skool pixel not firing?
Start with Skool's checklist. Add skool.com to your pixel's allow list under traffic permissions, check Pixel Health in Events Manager, and use Test Events while you load your About page. Turn off ad blockers and other browser plugins while you test, clear your cache, and use the Meta Pixel Helper extension to spot errors.
Can I use Google Tag Manager on Skool?
Skool advises against it. Its Meta pixel and Google Ads articles both ask you not to add trackers such as Google Tag Manager within your datasets, because they may interfere with Skool's own tracking. Use Skool's built-in plugins instead, with one pixel ID kept only for your Skool group.
