Running a communityThe Skool About page

Your Skool About page is the page people see before they join your group, and Skool's help centre calls it "essentially a landing/checkout page for your group." This guide shows how to set up a Skool About page step by step, from Skool's own help articles, checked on 3 October 2026. Then it shows what the top 100 do. On 20 July 2026 we pulled the About pages of the 100 communities at the top of Skool's leaderboard that day, and counted what they put on them.

To set up your Skool About page, open the About page, click Upload images/videos, add your media, write the description and click Save. In our 20 July 2026 pull of the top 100 communities, 63 used six images, the median description was 157 words, the median monthly price was $77, and only 30 offered a guarantee.

What is a Skool About page?

It is the front page of your group, the page at your group link ending in /about. Visitors from Discovery, from your social bios and from search all land there before they decide to join. Skool's help screenshots show what it holds:

  • your group name and a gallery of images and videos at the top
  • a line showing whether the group is private or public, the member count, the price and the owner
  • your description, the longer text under the gallery
  • a side card with your cover image and your group description

It also affects whether Skool shows your group in Discovery. Skool's About page article says the About page must be completed for your group to be eligible for Discovery. Skool's Discovery FAQ lists a high-quality About page as a ranking boost and a low-quality one as a penalty. And in Skool News #55 (5 May 2026), Skool's team said the new Discovery search reads your keywords, your About page text and your group description. Our Skool Discovery guide covers the rest of the ranking.

How do you set up your Skool About page?

Skool's help article gives three steps:

  1. Go to your group's About page.
  2. Click Upload images/videos and add your media. Skool suggests showing what the program offers, an explainer video about your group, and what members are saying.
  3. Write the description: what the group is and what members get out of joining. Click Save.

Two more parts live in your settings, not on the About page. From Skool's logo and cover article: click SETTINGS in your community, then the General tab, then CHANGE next to the group icon or cover photo, pick the image and click SAVE. The group description, the short line in the side card, sits on the same General tab.

PartWhere you set itLimit in Skool's help screenshots
Gallery (images and videos)About page, Upload images/videosNot stated. No top 100 page had more than six images

Group descriptionSETTINGS, General150 characters
Group nameSETTINGS, General30 characters
Cover imageSETTINGS, General, CHANGERecommended 1084 x 576
Group iconSETTINGS, General, CHANGERecommended 128 x 128

Two things to know before you write. First, links in the About page description will not work, Skool's article says, so leave websites and links out. Second, check the page the way a buyer sees it. Skool's payments setup article suggests opening your About page link in an incognito tab or a different browser.

What do the top 100 Skool communities put on their About page?

On 20 July 2026 we pulled the About page of every community on Skool's leaderboard, the 100 at the top that day. For each one we logged the price, the number of images, the description, the group description, and what the copy included. Our Skool Games guide explains how that leaderboard works.

What we counted (n = 100)Result
Used six gallery images63
Used no images at all1
Description lengthMedian 157 words, longest 191
Group description lengthMedian 19 words
Group description with a number in it38%
Paid or free76 paid, 24 free
Median price, monthly plans (71 groups)$77 a month
Description mentions the price68%
Description has a call to action62%
Description uses urgency or scarcity43%
Description offers a guarantee30%
Description gives proof numbers29%
Emoji used as bullets86% (Skool's own bullet format: 24%)

One honest caveat. This shows what the top 100 do, not what put them there. Their offer, their traffic and how long members stay all matter too. But the same page structure showed up across every category and in every language we saw, from English to Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Turkish. That makes it a sensible pattern to start from.

How many images should your Skool About page have?

Six. Filling the gallery was one of the most consistent habits on the board: 63 of the 100 used six images, and only one used none. No page had more than six. Skool's help centre does not state a limit, so treat six as the size of the gallery and fill every slot.

What goes in them? Skool's article suggests what the program offers and what members are saying. Across the top 100, the same kinds of image came up again and again:

  • Proof: member results, screenshots of wins, what members say.
  • Faces: you, your team and your members, so people see who they will learn from.
  • What is inside: the classroom, the calendar of calls, the community feed.

The first item shows large at the top of the page and the rest sit under it as thumbnails, as Skool's screenshots show. So the first slot matters most.

Should you put a video on your Skool About page?

Yes. Skool's own article lists "an explainer video about your group" as something to add, and we recommend one short video in the first gallery slot. Aim for 3 to 5 minutes.

  1. Say who the group is for and what they get in the first few seconds.
  2. Put the key line on screen as text, so the video works with the sound off.
  3. Show proof: a member's result, a look inside the classroom, a clip from a live call.
  4. Say the price, the guarantee, and what happens after they click JOIN.
  5. Film on your phone if you like. Good light and clear sound matter more than polish.

How long should a Skool About page description be?

Short. The median description in the top 100 was 157 words, and the longest was 191. Skool's help screenshots show a 1,000-character limit, so there is no room for a long sales letter anyway. Most used emoji as bullets (86%) rather than Skool's own bullet format (24%), which makes the text easy to scan.

The strongest pages followed the same order. Use it as your outline:

  1. Hook. The promise, or one proof number.
  2. The problem. One or two lines on what is not working for your reader now. Optional.
  3. What is inside. Short bullets: courses, calls, templates, the community.
  4. The price, reframed. Per day, or what they save on the annual plan.
  5. The guarantee or free trial.
  6. Honest urgency. Only a real trigger, like a price rise on a set date or at a set member count.
  7. The call to action. Tell them to click JOIN.
  8. "Cancel anytime", if it is true.

Write in the plain words your members would type into a search bar. Discovery search reads this text, so "sourdough baking" beats a clever name nobody searches for.

What should your group description say?

The group description is the one line in your side card, and the help screenshot shows a 150-character limit. In the top 100 the median was 19 words, and 38% had a number in it. Write it as one promise: the result, how they get it, and how long it takes. For example: "[Result] in [time] with [method]."

How much should you charge on your Skool About page?

Your price shows on the About page, so it is part of the pitch. Here is what the top 100 charged on 20 July 2026:

PriceCommunities
Free24
$1 to $49 a month23
$50 to $99 a month27
$100 to $199 a month9
$200 to $499 a month3
$500 to $999 a month2
$1,000 a month or more7
Yearly plan ($2,500 to $12,000 a year)5

So 50 of the 76 paid communities charged under $100 a month, and the median monthly price was $77. Monthly prices ran from $7 to $3,750. Some free groups named a paid price in their copy, so free worked as a way in rather than the whole business.

Skool's pricing article lists five options: a free group, a subscription (monthly or annual, with an optional 7-day free trial), freemium, tiers, and a one-time payment. What Skool takes from each payment is in our Skool pricing guide.

Should your Skool About page offer a guarantee?

We think so. Only 30 of the top 100 offered one, so a guarantee is a simple way to stand out.

The top 100 agree on images and length. They split on guarantees: only 30 of them offered one.

The strongest guarantees were tied to a result: "[result] in [time] or your money back." If you would rather not promise a refund, a subscription group can offer a 7-day free trial instead.

Before you promise a refund, know how refunds work. Skool's refund article says you refund from the member's MEMBERSHIP SETTINGS, then the Payments tab, then REFUND PAYMENT. You cannot refund more than your available balance, and a refund does not cancel the member's subscription or remove them from the group.

Keeping the members your About page brings in

A good About page gets people to click JOIN. Keeping them is the next job. Skool's AutoDM plugin, on the Pro plan, sends one welcome message to each new member within 1 to 5 minutes of joining, according to its AutoDM article. Backpack adds the follow-up after that. It is a Chrome extension plus our servers. Welcome Drip sends new members a short series of welcome messages, Payment Recovery messages a member when their card fails, and Cancellation Recovery messages a member who cancels. You write the messages and Backpack sends them, even with your computer off. It costs $9 a month for every Skool community you admin, and you can try Backpack free for 7 days. Backpack is not affiliated with Skool.

So build your Skool About page in this order: six images with a 3 to 5 minute video first, a description near 150 words, a clear price, a guarantee, and a line telling people to click JOIN. Then send people to it. Our guide to getting members on Skool covers where that traffic comes from.

FAQ

How do I edit my Skool About page?

Go to your group's About page. Click Upload images/videos to change the gallery, then write or change the description and click Save. The group description, cover image and icon are separate: change them under SETTINGS, then the General tab. Open the About page in an incognito tab afterwards to see what visitors see.

Can you put links on a Skool About page?

Not in the description. Skool's help article says links in the About page description will not work, so leave websites and links out. Put what matters into the text, the images and the video instead. If people need a next step, such as booking a call, tell them inside the group or in your welcome message.

How many images can a Skool About page have?

Skool's help centre does not give a number. In our pull of the top 100 About pages on 20 July 2026, no page showed more than six images, 63 of the 100 used six, and only one used none. Treat six as the size of the gallery, fill every slot, and put your best item first.

Do I need an About page to show in Skool Discovery?

Yes. Skool's help article says the About page must be completed for your group to be eligible for Discovery. The minimum also includes a cover image, a group description, a post and invited members. Skool's Discovery FAQ lists a high-quality About page as a ranking boost and a low-quality one as a penalty.

How long should a Skool About page description be?

Around 150 words. The median description in the top 100 on 20 July 2026 was 157 words, and the longest was 191. Skool's help screenshots show a 1,000-character limit. Use short bullets for what is inside, state the price, add a guarantee, and end by telling people to click JOIN.

Should a Skool About page have a video?

Yes, we recommend one. Skool's own help article suggests an explainer video about your group. Keep it to 3 to 5 minutes, say who the group is for and what they get in the first few seconds, add on-screen text for people watching with the sound off, and put it first in the gallery.
