To block someone on Skool, open your chat with them, click the three dots menu, then click Block. If you run a group and need someone out of it, you ban them from the Members tab instead. Here is how to block someone on Skool, how to ban a member, and what each one does.

Anyone can block someone in Skool Chat: open the chat, click the three dots menu, then Block. Skool says you stop getting notifications of their messages, and they will not know. Owners and admins can ban a member from the Members tab: MEMBERSHIP, then Ban from group. A ban removes them, cancels their subscription and stops them rejoining.

How to block someone in Skool chat

These steps come from Skool's help article How to block a member on Skool Chat, last updated 8 February 2025. You do not need to be an admin to do this.

  1. Open the Skool Chat window with the person.
  2. Click the three dots menu at the top of the chat.
  3. Click Block.
  4. Skool's screenshot then shows a pop-up saying the person is blocked and asking if you also want to report them. Click REPORT or DON'T REPORT.

Skool's screenshots show the website. Its help centre has no separate blocking steps for the phone app (we searched it on 3 October 2026).

What blocking does

  • You stop getting notifications of their messages. That is how Skool's article describes it.
  • They are not told. Skool says they won't be aware that you blocked them.

What blocking does not do

Skool's article describes blocking only in chat. It does not say it removes the person from a group or hides their posts. The same article suggests you also report the member to the group's admins, with their name or Skool handle.

To reach the admins, open the group's Members tab, filter by Admins, and click CHAT next to a name (Skool's steps).

Report them to Skool as well

For spam, scams or harassment, report the account to Skool's moderation team. From Skool's report article, updated 1 October 2026:

  1. Go to the person's Skool profile.
  2. Click the three dots menu.
  3. Click Report user.
  4. Pick the reasons and click REPORT. Skool's screenshot lists Spam or scam, Suspected bot or fake user, Harassment and Impersonator.

For a single post or comment, use its three dots menu and choose Report to admins.

Stop a whole group from messaging you

You can also switch chat off for one group. Click your profile picture, then Settings, then Chat, and use the drop-down next to the group (Skool's steps). That page says only members of a group you are in can message you. More in our guide to turning off Skool notifications.

How to ban someone from a Skool group

This part is for owners and admins. The steps come from Skool's article How to ban a member, last updated 9 June 2026.

  1. Go to the Members tab and find the member, or search for them in the search bar.
  2. Click the MEMBERSHIP button (with the gear icon) next to their name, or the gear icon in the top right corner of their profile.
  3. Click Ban from group.
  4. Confirm, then click BAN. Before you do, you can tick a box to delete the last 7 days of their posts and comments in the group.

Skool says that deleting their posts and comments is permanent. It also says a ban "stops them from requesting access or accessing the group completely."

Who can ban a member on Skool

Owners, billing managers and admins. The chart in Skool's member roles article lists removing or banning members as something a moderator cannot do. The same chart says the owner cannot be removed unless they transfer ownership. More in Skool admin vs moderator.

What happens to a paid member when you ban them

Skool's article How to refund a member's payment (updated 18 August 2026) says a ban removes the member from the group and cancels their subscription, and they won't be able to rejoin.

Giving money back is a separate step. The same article says you refund a banned member from their subtab on the Members tab (the screenshots in Skool's ban article show a Banned subtab). Open their Membership settings, then Payments, click the payment date, then REFUND PAYMENT. You cannot refund more than your available balance.

For high-risk accounts, Skool's spam article (updated 2 April 2026) suggests a split. Ban a free member. Refund a paid member's recent charge and remove them. Block them in chat either way.

Remove instead of ban

To get someone out without shutting the door for good, use the same menu but click Remove from group, then REMOVE (Skool's steps). Skool's refund article says this cancels a paid member's subscription too, but they can rejoin in the future.

Which one should you use?

  • Someone keeps messaging you: block them. Report spam or harassment too.
  • Trouble in a group you do not run: tell the admins.
  • Your group, gone for good: ban them, and clear their last 7 days of posts if they spammed.
  • Your group, maybe back later: remove them.

That is how to block someone on Skool: the three dots menu in the chat, then Block, and Skool says they are not told. To get someone out of a group you run, ban or remove them from the Members tab. Still stuck? Here is how to contact Skool support.

FAQ

Can you block someone on Skool?

Yes. Anyone can block someone in Skool Chat. Open the chat window, click the three dots menu, then click Block. Skool says you will stop getting notifications of messages from that person. Skool's screenshots then offer to report them as well. Its help centre gives these steps for the website only.

Does someone know if you block them on Skool?

No. Skool's help article on blocking says the person won't be aware that you have blocked them. You simply stop getting notifications of their messages. If they are spamming or harassing you, you can also report their account from their profile, and Skool suggests telling the group's admins too.

Can a Skool moderator ban someone?

No. Skool's member roles chart lists removing or banning members as something a moderator cannot do. Moderators can see and delete reported posts and comments, and approve or decline join requests. To ban someone, you need to be the owner, a billing manager or an admin of the group.

Can a banned member rejoin a Skool group?

No. Skool's refund article says a banned member won't be able to rejoin, and its ban article says a ban stops them requesting access to the group at all. If you might want them back one day, use Remove from group instead. A removed member can rejoin in the future.

What happens to a paid member's subscription when you ban them?

It is cancelled. Skool's refund article says a ban removes the member from the group and cancels their subscription. Giving money back is a separate step: open the Banned subtab on the Members tab, then their Membership settings and Payments. You cannot refund more than your available balance.

How do I report someone on Skool?

Go to their Skool profile, click the three dots menu, click Report user, pick the reasons and click REPORT. That goes to Skool's moderation team. To report a single post or comment instead, use its three dots menu and choose Report to admins, which flags it for the group's admins.
